Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders are a great option for parties, game days, movie nights, or when you want to whip up a fun dinner in a pinch. We enjoy using soft sweet Hawaiian rolls, homemade ranch dressing, and delicious pulled chicken (Ranch Chicken Bacon Mini Sandwiches).
This dish is admittedly a little different from our usual eating habits. It’s not exactly a typical one in terms of nutritional value, but sometimes we crave variety and a little new flavor. At such times, it’s a lie to say that this dish doesn’t really feel like a “guilty pleasure” to us. Because in this one we take juicy cooked chicken, mix it with creamy ranch dressing, and pair it with crispy bacon. Top it with some more ranch dressing, delicious shredded cheese, and finally layer it densely between soft, sweet Hawaiian rolls. Then, we lightly brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder and onion powder, and bake in the oven until bubbling and golden brown, making for a delicious feast.
INGREDIENTS
The following ingredients are readily available at your local grocery store:
Ranch Chicken Bacon Mini Sandwiches
Chicken –
For our Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders, we like to use our special recipe that uses a Dutch oven to make “pulled chicken.” This recipe will require about 3 cups of pulled or shredded chicken. While we encourage following our own recipe, you can use store-bought rotisserie chicken — that’s also a good option.
Ranch Dressing –
We always prefer homemade ranch dressing. It’s made with sour cream, mayonnaise, buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh chives. It makes about ¾ cup — it’s moist enough to coat the chicken mixture, but not too moist.
Sweet Hawaiian Rolls –
We like to use King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (pack of 12 rolls). They’re buttery soft, slightly sweet — and go great with sliders.
Bacon –
About 4 strips of bacon, cooked until crispy and cut into small pieces. Use any brand you like, but we like thick-cut bacon because it’s meatier.
Cheese –
You can use any cheese you like that has good melting properties: sharp cheddar, provolone, pepper jack, etc. are all good. We mostly use Colby cheese, though. Since this is a very delicate dish, either deli slices or shredded cheese will work. We like to take a block of cheese and cut it into our own pieces. You’ll need about 4 ounces of cheese.
Let’s learn how to make Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders:
First, make the ranch dressing at home. In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, mayonnaise, onion powder, buttermilk, garlic powder, salt, and freshly chopped chives.
Next, cut the sweet Hawaiian rolls in half and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Now brush the bottom of the rolls with a little ranch dressing.
Now mix the pulled chicken pieces and chopped bacon with the remaining dressing and spread evenly over the rolls.
Top with shredded Colby cheese, then top with the rolls. Optionally, brush melted butter on top and sprinkle with a little garlic powder and onion powder for extra flavor.
Now bake these sliders in a preheated oven at 350°F (about 175°C) for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
How to Serve & Store Sliders:
After the sliders have cooled slightly, place them on a plate or serve them directly on the baking sheet. Then, take each roll out and enjoy! If you’re serving at a party, you can cut each one individually before serving to keep everyone from touching the food with their hands.
We love serving these Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders with potato chips, chopped fresh vegetables, and pickles.
Whether it’s game day or just to make a great appetizer for any party, make a batch of sliders ahead of time.
We recommend serving them slightly warm or at room temperature. However, they’re also great served cold.
One important note: Since this recipe is mayo-based and also contains chicken, leftovers should be refrigerated within 2 hours to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria…..
To make it a day ahead: Ranch Chicken Bacon Mini Sandwiches:
Ranch Chicken Bacon Mini Sandwiches, First, combine the chicken, bacon, and ranch dressing in an airtight container, mix well, and refrigerate.
Wait until the buns are ready to bake to brush with the ranch dressing. Also, brush the tops of the buns with butter at the same time.
You can also prepare the entire recipe a day ahead. Cool to room temperature, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. These are delicious served cold!
If desired, you can let them sit on the counter for 20 minutes before serving to bring them to room temperature. But remember not to leave it out for more than 2 hours!
